Organizer: Islamic Council of Victoria
MEMO Recovery Support Program
The MEMO Recovery Support Program supports the MEMO Plan and helps the Victorian Muslim community respond to and recover from disasters and significant emergencies. The program is made up of volunteers who can be called upon to provide:
- logistical support during the incident response phase
- personal support and chaplaincy services to affected people during and following a disaster and emergency.
You can join as a MEMO Member, MEMO Personal Support Worker or MEMO Recovery Chaplain. Our personal support and chaplaincy volunteers are trained through the Victorian Council of Churches Emergencies Ministry (VCCEM) program.
VCCEM provide multifaith personal support and chaplaincy assistance to communities following major Victorian disasters such as the 2009 Victorian bushfires or 2011 Victorian Floods. For more information on VCCEM visit http://www.vccem.org.au/
The MEMO Recovery Support Program is key to ensuring those touched by disasters have apropriate personal support. The program contributes to building a resilient Victorian community and helping our volunteers develop important life and professional skills.
