Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed al-Jarwan said Saturday that Arab peoples were shocked at a recent decision by the parliament of Pakistan not to allow the Pakistani army to join a Saudi Arabia-led campaign against Yemen’s Houthi group.
In a statement, al-Jarwan said he was disappointed at the decision of the Pakistani parliament.
“This decision does not go hand in hand with international, Arab and Islamic aspirations,” al-Jarwan added in the statement.
He called on Pakistan’s parliament to respond to the will of Islamic peoples and back the policies of the Pakistani government which supports the anti-Houthi campaign.
On Friday, Pakistan’s parliament unanimously rejected direct involvement by the Pakistani army in the Saudi-led campaign in Yemen.
