Organizer: LMA
The LMA is proud to present a short course on Imam al-Harith al-Muhasibi’s Risala al-Mustarshidin
Treatise for the Seekers of Guidance
Intended to serve as a layman’s guide to self-rectification and moral improvement, in this book, Imam al-Muhasibi provides a road map that any person can follow to overcome the slyness of his fundamental enemies: the world, the ego, the whims of the soul, and Satan.
Imam al-Muhasibi was born in the city of Basrah and lived and died in the city of Baghdad in the year 243 after the Hijrah. He was one of the Pious Predecessors (Salaf) of this Ummah and a contemporary of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal.
He was a scholar in all of the traditional Islamic Sciences and he excelled at each one of them. He is believed to have met and studied with Imam Shafi, and followed his madhhab (School of Law).
The study circles (halaqas) will consist of group readings, discussion and deliberation.
The halaqas will be led by Aftab Malik, publisher, academic and author
This study circle, set in an informal setting, will take place every Tuesday commencing 19th February, 6:30pm for 8 weeks.
