The Islamic Council of Victoria’s Office for Women presents a FREE panel discussion at Melbourne City Council’s Knowledge Week that aims to foster a better understanding of Islam in the community and showcase the diversity of Muslim women’s contribution to Australian civic life.
Muslim Women Leaders and Professionals Panel followed by Q and A.
Date: Tuesday, November 27, 2012
Time: (5.45pm start) 6pm-7.30pm
Venue: The University of Melbourne, Elisabeth Murdoch Theatre A, Elisabeth Murdoch Building, Building 134, Spencer Rd (behind the Ian Potter Museum of Art, Swanston St, Carlton)
Panelists include;
- Dr Nasya Bafhen, a journalist/producer at ABC Radio Australia and Radio National and UTS research associate. Her sports-related media work includes reporting on soccer, Aussie rules, and rugby league.
- Dr Senem Eren, a life coach, counsellor and researcher who is passionate about inspiring others to recognise and embrace their true potential.
- Farah Farouque was, a former senior journalist at The Age, covering legal and social policy issues including cultural diversity in the community.
- Mehal Krayem, a PhD candidate at UTS. Her thesis focuses on the representation of Arab and Muslim Australians in Australian crime drama.
- Sarah Sabbagh, a youth and community worker since 1989. She is the founder and chair of Benevolence.
