It took several decades for the people of Egypt to muster courage to protest against the US-Military-Mubarak Nexus. It took them several months before they could succeed in toppling Mubarak. It took just one year for the supporters of the old nexus to rise against Morsi, a symbol of “Political Islam”. It took them less than a week before they convinced the military it’s time for a coup. This of course is not an ordinary coup – not a coup against a civilian ruler by the military. It is a coup against what they love to call “political Islam”. They hate political Islam because they can only accept a political west. Islam or any religion is good for them only till it remains confined to the four chambers of the heart or within the four walls of the house. As soon as it comes out, it poses a challenge to the political ideology of West, hence it is unacceptable.
The debate will now rage with full intensity. Democracy is not good for Islamic countries, it will be argued, because it brings Islamic elements into power. The newly found weapon of “Mass Protests” can now be thrown on some other countries. What started as a genuine way of demonstration against the corrupt regimes by the masses about a couple of years back has now become a lethal weapon in the hands of the international forces. It is being used in Islamic as well as non-Islamic countries. Economic lobbies are using it for their own ends. The political lords of the world find it much easier to achieve their aims through it. If it succeeds, what else is required? If it fails, it can easily be converted into rebellion. The rebels will soon start getting arms from their “friends” in the region and across the globe. If the rebels succeed in making an impact, they will form a union. It will soon be recognized by the noble members of the international community. And as soon as the time is right, missiles and planes will flow past the airspaces, bombs will rain devastating whatever little exists; civilian casualties will be declared “collateral damage”.
It is a sad day for all those who love Islam, and a day of jubilation who hate it. The events are turning too fast to make any predictions. The war is on. Who will win, nobody knows. Traditionally it is said, “Truth conquers”. Historically, the Falsehood seems to prevail with brief intervening periods of the truth.
