Organizer: Affinity Intercultural Foundation
RESPECTING RELIGIOUS VALUES
Affinity’s latest panel will address freedom of speech over sensitive issues. Come and be a part of it.
The recent movie furore about the Prophet MuhammadPBUH has led to heated debates and protests worldwide. The reactions shown by a few in some of the protests then sparked the publishing of yet another series of derogatory caricatures of the Prophet MuhammadPBUH by a European magazine.
While some sympathise with the Muslims and argue that such depictions are deeply offensive and should not be allowed, others believe that this is a right protected under the freedom of speech.
BUT IS FREEDOM OF SPEECH LIMITLESS ?
WHY ARE MUSLIMS SO SENSITIVE ABOUT A FILM OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMADPBUH ?
Join us in the exploration of this topic with our distinguished speakers from politics, media, academia and faith communities. Our speakers include:
- Mr Peter Manning – Adjunct Lecturer and former producer of ABC programs – Four Corners, Lateline, Foreign Correspondent & Landline
- Dr Trish Madigan – Interfaith Co-ordinator of Broken Bay Diocese
- Mr Mehmet Ozalp – Adjunct Lecturer of Islamic Sciences & Research Academy (ISRA)
