DIVINE REVELATION, THE QUR’AN AND ITS ELOQUENCE
The Holy Qur’an is the most important reference source for Islam and Muslims. Muslims believe that the Qur’an is the literal Word of God. The Qur’an is also seen as the greatest miracle of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). How can the modern reader appreciate the miraculousness of the Qur’an? How can we show that the Qur’an is the authentic Word of God? These are some of the important theological questions that will be examined in depth in this course.
This course has the following content:
- History and compilation of the Qur’an
- Four major themes of the Qur’an
- Ijaz (literary articulacy) of the Qur’an
- I’jaz (miraculousness) of the Qur’an
- Appreciating the eloquence and style of the Qur’an
- Future predictions of the Qur’an
- Scientific truths as expressed by the Qur’an
- Can the Qur’an be read from a translation?
