The Minister of Labour has issued a circular stating that Saturday (3 January) will be a private sector holiday.
A report by national news agency WAM said on Sunday: “Private sector establishments and corporations will close on Saturday, January 3 to mark Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) birthday, according to a circular issued by Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Labour.”
Earlier this month, Ghobash issued a statement announcing that New Year’s Day will be a paid holiday for the private sector employees as well.
In a separate report on Sunday, WAM said the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources had issued a circular saying the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) would fall on January 3.
