Date: Tuesday, 01 June 2010
Time: 17:30 - 19:00
Location: Sydney Town Hall

You are asked to attend an emergency action in case the Israeli military takes any action against the Gaza Freedom Flotilla. Israel has cautioned that the Freedom Flotilla currently sailing to Gaza would be stopped, if necessary by force.

If the convoy has already been attacked or blockaded, our action will be a powerful protest. If it has not yet arrived, our action will be a demand that it be allowed to pass in peace. If it has reached Gaza, we celebrate!

**PLEASE BRING PALESTINIAN FLAGS, BANNERS, POSTERS**

Slogans: End the siege of Gaza - Let the flotilla through
Hands off humanitarian aid to Gaza
End the Israeli blockade of Gaza

Protest details:

Melbourne: Tuesday June 1, 4.30pm, Bourke St Mall, CBD

Sydney: Tuesday June 1, 5.30pm, Town Hall, CBD

Brisbane: Tuesday June 1, 5pm, Brisbane Square (cnr George and Queen sts)

Perth: Tuesday June 1, 5pm, Wesley Church, cnr William & Hay Sts, Perth

Adelaide: Details coming soon - keep checking back here!

Canberra: Tuesday June 1, 5pm, outside Israeli Embassy, 6 Turrana St,
Yarralumla. Plus also a rally in Garema Place on Thursday 3 June at 4.00 pm
(organised by Australians for Justice and Peace in Palestine)
Newcastle: Tuesday June 1, 4pm, Sharon Grierson's office, Hunter St
Fasbir Sabran Jameelah

Alhamdulilah great to see something happening..

Was just wondering, who's organising this protest?

Jazaks.

Only my thought....but the above is never a good look and just causes a loss of support from the average person in the street. This isn't Palestine. It's much better IMO to fly Australian flags when protesting against something whilst on Australian soil.

Just my 2 cents.

A lot of people there, alhamduliLlah. All sorts of people too. Had a few speakers talk, including Shaykh Taj, Green MPs, lawyers, people from CJPP, and a bunch of others. The protest marched around the Woolies block and stopped a lot of traffic. Hopefully it'll get some publicity tomorrow, inshaAllah.

Lol it was crazy, especially with so many Turks in the protest. Shaykh Taj knows how to work the crowd!

Alhamdulilah I was able to attend. They're saying there was up to 1600 people over there mashAllah, that's very impressive since it had less than a day advertising.

It was great to see all sorts of people, from all sorts of natio's both male and female down at Town Hall in order to support Palestine and it's people.

I will never forget Sheikh Taj saying: "Israel under the foot" Posted Image

Lots of copsPosted Image but alhamdulilah from what I know, no trouble happened.

What was also good is that some of the brothers, formed like three long lines for them to pray Isha. It was right infront of the cops. I saw a few cops looking from the side of his eye at the brothers praying.. lol may Allah guide him and others ameen.

Nevertheless, Israel has got to be stopped.

And yep also heard about another protest on Saturday, but I heard 12 pm.. Kheir pretty sure details will come out soon.

I thought that was strange actually..., as one of the guests were still speaking i heard some chanting, when i turned it was people making a few lines to pray, pretty much in the middle of the crowd while speakers are still talking, its not as iff the Isha prayer was in danger of being missed, they probably prayed at a later time at there local mosque on a normal evening.. I dont think they would have been blamed if they delayed there prayer for 15-20 more minutes. People are going through the trouble of organising these events, they should at least be listened to not ignored. If you ask me that prayer was more for show, that particular group was shouting and screming all night a the back of the crowd totally ignoring the speakers and organisers. It felt like they were trying to hijack the event... "look at me not at them"

I know what you are saying, however it would be morally superior to fly Aussie flags if we had some real couragous Australian pollies who are supposed to represent us all, with some guts and real conviction to speak out against the latest deplorable actions of the FASCIST, RACIST, and TERRORIST State of Israel.

I think Australian Muslims, non-Muslims and all those people of conscience should not care much about their precieved *public image*, rather they should all concentrate on what is right and what needs to be done publicly with courage and without fear of being presumably unpopular.

I agree totaly with Jimmy on this one, i felt that the Average white Aussies amongst the crowd were overwhelmed and felt out of place with the national pride show of the rest, if anything this is about "Australians" showing there opposition to Israel and what it has done, i didnt see any Aussie flags, if the average white Aussie didnt bring em the rest should have thought about it.After the all the issue is to make a political point not to shout and scream and releive stress...

Maybe the people that were speaking and telling others to pray isn't the same group of brothers I am talking about because I did not even notice that they had started praying until I looked back and saw them in Ruk'uu.. I was standing near 'that group' and could barely even hear anything of what the speakers were saying. MashAllah it was packed and quite noisy. Nothing is wrong with praying. That can also be seen as dawah. Non-Muslims may well likely go back home and research what Islam is about, why we pray etc.. I don't know why you're so upset about it brother.

...
So Australian politicians have the monopoly on what and who is an Australian? Most Australians opposed the occupation of East Timor while government after government was in bed with the dictators and Australians were some of the most consistent supporters of the movement for freedom in word and action. It is only because of the efforts of Australians among others that we even know about the Dili massacre. So who represented Australia more in that case and therefore has the right to use the Australian flag, Gareth Evans and his cohort of vampires or people who remember and honour the Balibo five and Kamal Bamadhaj?

Israel is not a fascist state, it has fascistic elements but it is not fascist.

Sister, if you were talking to someone and they just said 'Allahu Akbar" at began to pray while you were still talking , would you not find that awkward?I had nothing against people praying there but rather the timing ... The Vigil finished at 7pm as it was announced, it wouldnt have hurt anyone to hold out the prayer to 7pm, infact they may have even received more people in lines of prayer, i certainly would have joined in ...Sorry but It just looked like show to me, that was my first impression ...

Ofcourse i'd find the above scenario you mentioned awkward, but this was different. . Bro, I started heading towards the train station at 7 pm and all the people were still there, even the speakers were still speaking. . We can't judge them as we do not know their intentions. Different people have different thoughts and this is evident between the two of us. I mean, a person may take something in one way whilst another person may take that certain thing in a total opposite way. Neways I just replied so that I don't be rude in not answering your question and I think this thread shouldn't be about what we are speaking about at the moment.

At the end of the day, the protest happened and alhamdulilah it went well. InshAllah this Sat will have more people.
