I want to do umra inshallah on my way overseas but someone told me that they dont allow umra a certain time before the hajj as they have to prepare for hajj or something.
Is this true or i can do umra anytime (not during hajj).
Do i have to get a special visa or something ? whats a good travel agent for good deals ?

Yes it is true that Umrah is not allowed a period before and after Hajj. If you call the Saudi embassy in canberra they can give you the exact dates. The best time to do umrah is after Hajj once they reopen the umrah visas (it is most quiet at this time). As for a good travel agent well if you're in sydney a good place to find out information is "madinah travels" which is in Lakemba.

I think this past year it was closed from some time in Nov '08 till March this year. Not sure if that's true for all countries.
