I am moving to Canberra in mid-January. Any idea of where the halal butchers and/or restaurants and/or fast food places are. Names, address & phone numbers will be handy. We will be living in Kambah (Tuggeranong).

there is a halal butcher in yarralumla and a halal butcher in mawson. kingsleys chicken is halal, oporto is halal, ali babas is halal, theres a few turk restraunts around that i THINK are halal. thats the best i can do for you, i'll try and find out some numbers etc in the next day or two and post them on here for you.

Ok, so.. Canberrans.. Halal places...

Here are the places I know of:
Turkish Pide house - Woden, Civic & Jameson
Turkish Heaven - Mawson
Kebab shop in Yaralumla
Pasha's Patisere - Mawson
Turkish Delight - Belconnen
Indian restaurant in Civic.. Haven't been. Anyone got any reviews?

Besides the Indian place, is there anything other than halal turkish?

Kapital Kebab - Canberra Centre

Kingsley - "used to be" better check

KFC in Woden - "used to be Kosher " better check

100% Halal

Flavours of India - Civic & Gunghalin

Ruchi - Manuka & Belconnen - South Indian & Asian. You need to request halal meet. No bacon served there.

i forgot to add a few years back we had this awesome turkish pizza, kebabs and bread from a little Turkish restaurant at woden plaza. It was around the back where coles is but outside. I hope it's still there because next time I hit up Canberra i wouldn't mind some..mmmm there bread is #1

Yes!! It's called the Turkish Pide House. There is also one in the city and Jamison.

Au Lac - Dickson (Vietnamese - strict Buddhists so no meat products or alcohol used; really tasty 'fake' meat made of soy; give it a go )

my parent's neighbours are italian and their entire menu consists of spagheti, they do many different types.

There's some real nice Italian Places.

Mezzelira (a bit pricey but the food is bellisimo ) , Tossolinis, La Scala ---- in the city

Belluci's - Dickson (Northside), Manuka, Woden

Delicio - Curtin

Art Espresso - Kingston
