a part of my poem :P
*Everything will work out insha’Allah
Never lose your faith in Allah, stay as you are.
You know you can count on all of us too
Because that’s what sisters are for
We are always going to be there for you
… and if you ever doubt that… we gonna kill you …*

You may be tired by ten cycles of prayer;
I may not be worn out by five hundred.
One goes barefoot all the way to the Ka`bah,
and another is totally exhausted
just going as far as the mosque.
One in utter self-devotion gives away his life,
while another agonizes over the gift of a loaf.
This middle way belongs to the realm of the finite,
for that finite has a beginning and an end.
A beginning and end are necessary
to conceive of the middle point.
As the Infinite doesn't have limits,
how can you apply a mean to it?

2007 Declared 'International Rumi Year'

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), evaluating the Culture and Tourism Ministry’s offer, has decided to commemorate the 800th birthday of Mevlana Jalaladdin-i Rumi, a prominent mystic of Islam, in all member countries.

Turkish Undersecretary of Culture and Tourism, Professor Mustafa Isen announced Tuesday that they presented a proposal to UNESCO suggesting a global celebration in 2007 for Rumi’s 800th birthday.

“Our proposal was responded positively,” Isen said, “So, 2007 was announced as, “International Rumi Year”.

The ministry pays a great deal of attention to the works, and in line with these works, the “Activities Commemorating Rumi” will be performed in Konya, and will be expanded throughout the year and the rest of world.

The International Rumi Association President and Mevlana’s 22nd generation grandchild, Faruk Celebi also said UNESCO’s decision to include Mevlevi culture among world cultural heritages in 2007 is a positive move.

He also noted that they received support from Iran and Afghanistan. Director of Mevlana Center for Research and Practice (SUMAM) at Selcuk University, Associate Professor Nuri Simsekler said, it is an important step in terms of imparting Rumi and Mevlevi culture to the next generation without degeneration.

thankyou at post #20, an exquiste piece of prose making me wish to read in the language of origin,

English is so clumsy with its: "this-that-the-at-but-was" type business,

I studied a unit of applied linguistics with an Anna Wirspitska (?that is a phonetic spelling of her surname), whom has developed something called a Natural Semantic Meta-language and reckons to have been able to narrow down every language expression that can be translated into every known language, into the expressions possible with somewhere between 16, and 32!?! words!, it is surprisingly effective, and many students with English as a second language at ANU study the unit to help their English expression !? But it is oddly clunky and clumsy somewhat like any Islamic expression in English!

I wanted to post here for a while but am been avoiding,

what is love poetry any way, for what it is worth?

my love is in constant terror that of stone am I worth as a lover
yet a mother
for bliss is Heaven's worth
of Life on Earth
leave love poems to men
for I must attend to the children

you loose for not letting me do the editing: since the Alms to cover any hat was that: and Australian Soccer had an unpaid debt to a rodesian Witchdoctor that Zimbabwe white skin Aborigines paid: this the most generous of signatures yet: That Thankyou for reading me yet: That is if you may: InshAllah that you stay: within knowing for it is showing we were cut off after kick off

They lie on the table side by side
The Holy Quran and the T.V. Guide.

One is well worn and cherished with pride.
Not the Quran, but the T.V. Guide.

One is used daily to help folks decide.
Not the Quran, but the T.V. Guide.

As the pages are turned, what shall they see?
Oh, what does it matter, turn on the T.V.

So they open the book in which they confide.
No, not the Quran, but the T.V. Guide.

The Word of Allah is seldom read,
Maybe a verse before they fall into bed.
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be.
Not from reading the Quran, from watching T.V.
So then back to the table side by side,
Lie the Holy Quran and the T.V. Guide.

No time for prayer, no time for the Word,
The plan of Istiqama is seldom heard.
But forgiveness of sin, so full and free,
Is found in the Quran, not on T.V.
Ma ki du'a

jazaakallah kheir ukhti for sharing that

Assalamualaikum,

Mowlana Vector > There is no such thing as sufi masjid because it is mandatory for sufis to do taqleed and hence pray behind any sunni imam

Whirling is not unislamic

In view of his strictness in every matter, he is famous for his fatwa allowing sama` or poetry recitals, and the swaying of the body and dancing associated with trances and other states of ecstasy during dhikr. Imam Ahmad related in his Musnad:

`Ali said: I visited the Prophet with Ja`far (ibn Abi Talib and Zayd (ibn Haritha). The Prophet said to Zayd: 'You are my freedman' (anta mawlay), whereupon Zayd began to hop on one leg around the prophet (hajala). The Prophet then said to Ja`far: 'You resemble me in my creation and my manners' (anta ashbahta khalqi wa khuluqi), whereupon Ja`far began to hop behind Zayd. The Prophet then said to me: 'You pertain to me and I pertain to you' (anta minni wa ana minka) whereupon I began to hop behind Ja`far.(4)

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami mentions that some scholars have seen in this evidence for the permissibility of dancing (al- raqs) upon hearing a recital (sama`) that lifts the spirit.(5) al-Yafi`i concurs with him in Mir'at al-jinan.(6) Both of them mention al-`Izz ibn `Abd al-Salam as the chief example of such scholars, since it is authentically reported that he himself 'attended the sama` and danced in states of ecstasy' (kana yahduru al-sama` wa yarqusu wa yatawajadu), as stated by Ibn al-`Imad on the authority of al-Dhahabi, Ibn Shakir al- Kutabi, al-Yafi`i, al-Nabahani, and Abu al- Sa`adat.(7)

This permissibility of a type of dancing on the part of the Imams and hadith masters precludes the prohibition of sama` on a general basis, and that of the dancing that accompanies sama` as well, regardless of the reservations of Ibn Taymiyya concerning it which, in the mouths of today's 'Salafis,' do become cut-and-dry prohibitions.

As for particular cases where the dancing may be prohibited, it regards the worldly kind of effeminate dancing which has nothing to do with the ecstasy of of sama` and dhikr. al-`Izz ibn `Abd al-Salam differentiated the two in his Fatwas:

Dancing is a bid`a or innovation which is not countenanced except by one deficient in his mind. It is unfitting for other than women. As for the audition of poetry (sama`) which stirs one towards states of purity (ahwal saniyya) which remind one of the hereafter: there is nothing wrong with it, nay, it is recommended (bal yundabu ilayh) for lukewarm and dry hearts. However, the one who harbors wrong desires in his heart is not allowed to attend the sama`, for the sama` stirs up whatever desire is already in the heart, both the detestable and the desirable.(8)

If love were only spiritual,
the practices of fasting and prayer would not exist.
The gifts of lovers to one another are,
in respect to love, nothing but forms;
yet, they testify
to invisible love.

'The one you've been seeking outside'
i want to leave this town
but you've chained me down
stolen away my heart
leaving yourself behind

now i've lost my way
my soul restless and head twisted
all because of those secrets
you once whispered

i only must keep
fasting my heart
to set me free
from sleepless nights

since your only advice
when you saw me in flame
was to keep burning
with you or with your thoughts

words of wisdom
came to me at last
'the beloved you've lost
the one you've been seeking outside
can only be found inside'

Ghazal from the Diwani shams by Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi, may Allah sanctify his soul & bless his secret

The heart left,
and the Friend is -also- gone.
I don't know whether I should go after the Friend
or after the heart!
A voice spoke to me:
'Go in pursuit of the Friend,
because the lover needs a heart
in order to find union with the Friend.
If there was no Friend,
what would -the lover- do with -his- heart?'

'Kashf al Asrar', Sheikh Ansari, may Allah sanctify his soul & bless his secret

I was weeping; now I am laughing!
The fortune of love has arrived,

Some Quotes I hope you will all enjoy by Rumi

“Now I am sober and there's only the hangover and the memory of love .”

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

“The minute I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along.”

“When I am with you, we stay up all night.
When you're not here, I can't go to sleep.

Praise God for those two insomnias!
And the difference between them.”

“This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.”

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there.”

“Only from the heart Can you touch the sky.”

“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.”

“You were born with wings. Why prefer to crawl through life?”

“Let the lover be disgraceful, crazy, absent-minded. Someone sober will worry about events going badly. Let the lover be.”

“Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.”

“To praise the sun is to praise your own eyes.”

“One day You will take my heart completely and make it more fiery than a dragon. Your eyelashes will write on my heart the poem that could never come from the pen of a poet.”

“Who could be so lucky? Who comes to a lake for water and sees the reflection of moon.”
