ok. thats a really really really bad joke, but i'm in a mood. be thankful you're not sitting next to me.
my ancestral heritage includes:
nubian, turkish, morrocan and egyptian. those we know for sure.
but that is only 4 out of 8 great grandparents. we don't know for sure where the others are from, although we have real suspitions they include roman.
so we go back to the really bad joke and determine that its really vegetable soup.

Although my family did not originate from an arab country which I find interesting because I always thought that they did. My uncle was doing a family tree and trying to trace our roots and he ended up in France! However my aunty claims that she is 110% sure that we originated from Montenegro which is near Serbia. Hmmm...
Well that's a lil of my family history for ya.

Mother's from India
Father calls himself pakistani, but he was born in bangladesh, but ultimately his father was from India. So my ancestors are from India.
I'm total opposite to umm layla, I was born here and even though I've been back to India and Pakistan a couple of times, I would still identify myself as an Aussie, especially when the cricket's on.

Unless U're related to Sakinah, U forgot to tell us about yours, Sis?
Anyway folks, I wasn’t born here, but I’m not even there so import/export is N/A here
Identity/(imaginary)belonging has always been a problematic issue for me (nothing 'personal'
Speaking of hyphenated-Identities, heart vs 'offical paper' belonging, 'international' rejections, and cultural difference, check out this interesting paper presented @ an international conference in London back in 1998, discussing 'Muslim Identity in the 21st century'.
It’s a critical examination of our totalised ( and tokenised) 'Muslim IDs', and it seeks to deconstruct our ‘suitcase’ identities on the planet of Wogdom ... Ooops I mean the global village.
Enjoy ...
