PROJECT REFUGEE ASSIST

Mr. XXXX is a refugee, a young man, now doing his HSC who had spent some time in various immigration detention centres.

On his release, he was able to make approaches to the government for migration assistance for his elderly parents, brother and sister to join him.
This has taken immense sacrifices and hard work on his part.

During last year, with the help of donations from members of the forum,
he was able to make arrangements for his family for the necessary travel from a refugee camp in Quetta to Islamabad for interviews, medicals and paperwork etc.

His family of four, Father aged 59, Mother aged 58, Daughter aged 17
Son aged 14, have now, Alhamdu Lillah, been accepted for migration to Australia.

The government has granted this family a ‘Global Special Humanitarian Visa. This family is in urgent need of financial assistance for the required airfares amounting to approx. $3600.

He has to raise the money for the travel arrangements before travel documents and visas for the family are issued.

There are conditions inasmuch as the family have to arrive in Australia by a certain date otherwise the travel documents and required authorities are forfeited.
Presently the young man has saved and borrowed a total of $1200 and has a shortfall of $2400.

He has done a lot of hard work to get this far and so close to be re-united with his family after years alone here.

The task for us is as follows: To raise minimum $2400 for airfares by Tuesday 24th June

Those who would like to assist can call to donate:

Sister Aisha at Andalus Book Store.(02) 9750 4341 or 0431 176 407

Or Sister Jasmine - (02)9740 4088 or 0401 346 523

Or bring your contributions, marked ‘Refugee Assist’ to: Andalus Book Store 168 Haldon Street, Lakemba.

TALLY TO DATE:

Savings $1200

Donations NIL

Total $1200

Assalaam mu alykum wa rahmatullahi wa baraktu.

The very good news:
:yay:  :) :yay:

(I like these happy faces!)

this family is now well on their way and should arrive in Sydney tomorrow evening.
Shukran to one and all who have assisted to make this boy's dream a reality.

As it is, the family still has some outstanding debts to settle and have been to embarassed to approach us again for monetary aid., so if any one is able to donate a few more dollars, please, send it over to the Andalus Bookstore.

We probably need about $1300 extra to cover some further outstanding debts.,
for which they had to sign some I.O.U's.

PLEASE SEE WHERE WE CAN ASSIST FURTHER!

As far as settlement here and accommodation is concerned , the government supplies some extra help via Migrant Assistance Centres and Anglicare supplies furniture and bedding., but if anyone here can assist further feel free to send me a message.

Again Shukran to all!

salaam

The $1300 IOU Debt in Afghanistan they will repay when their Centre-Link
payments are normalised.

The rent has given them a bit of a shock , but the family were forced to leave
the lounge-room of a friend to find accommodation.
Thus far the hidden expenses are hitting them, because all of a sudden
there are rent payments, electricity and six mouths to feed.

So food and provision donations would be most welcome.

There were some delays in respect of tax file numbers but the receipt of
Centre-Link benefits should normalise during this week.

In the meantime some generous sisters and brothers had donated to pay
this weeks rent for them .

Donations in cash and food are still required,

but, what would be a very excellent donation.....
would be two Quran Kareem radios,
because the mother and one other lady find it very stressful because they miss
not hearing the athaan for the salaah times.

I have learnt that there are two things worrying the women in these families the most,:
the outstanding debt hanging like a shame on the whole family.,
and not being able to hear the athaan.

I certainly have one of these they can have. I'll drop it off to Andulus if you like, insha'Allah.
